About Beci

Hi, I’m Beci!

I’m a Registered Paediatric Nurse with over 11 years’ experience in both General Paediatrics and Specialist Paediatric Nursing. I’m also a Mama of 2 Girls, Sophia aged 2 and Amelia who is 6 Years Old. I love supporting children and families to make life easier and enjoyable. I thought I knew all there was about looking after babies, that was until I had my own.

My Journey to Motherhood

I didn’t have the easiest of pregnancies with both my children, lots of complications during pregnancy and after delivery, and had both babies through planned caesarean sections prematurely due to my health. Both of my babies spent time in the NICU after delivery so I didn’t get that golden hour with either of them.

Feeding Problems

Breastfeeding was a bumpy ride with my first, she struggled to feed from the get go, was a Tubie baby, and then combination fed for 6 weeks. I had little support post both deliveries, especially with feeding, however I reached out to my local breastfeeding team for support. This meeting with them kept me feeding my first for 14 months. My second had issues with latch, with a possible tongue tie, and although she had a review from a medical professional they were unsure of what to look for.

What Next?

All these little events in our journey made me look at the local support for families in my community, there was very little. So I searched for things that I could do to change that, I found The Mama Coach and that is where this began. I am proud of being the first of 2 coaches in the UK to provide The Mama Coach service to my families.

My Aim

The aim of the Mama Coach is to educate, guide and support parents and families with key areas in raising a family, especially in Pregnancy, Labour & Delivery, Postpartum, Feeding, Sleep, Weaning and Toilet Learning. We can work together to meet your goals and expectations as a family with caring for your child. I am so passionate about supporting families, as this can make such a difference to their experiences, I want to create a support network where my families feel listened to, supported and empowered.

Frequently Asked Questions

Good question!  We are called The Mama Coach because years ago, when Carrie’s first boy was very small, she often wondered out loud to herself, “Where is my Mama Coach?” and “I need a Mama Coach!”.  Carrie searched and searched for qualified support and realised there was a need for qualified support for new families. We recognise that our name can give the impression that we only serve mums, but we will continue to work and learn to ensure our messaging is clear that all people are welcome here. Parents carry a heavy load, and do it with grace.  All parents deserve support, and The Mama Coach is the answer you’ve been searching for.

We do not just support mums — we help ALL people.  All are welcome here, and we are committed to providing you with quality support, no matter your gender or family dynamic.  As we learned in nursing school, your family is who YOU say they are.

We get asked this one all the time.  As Registered Nurses, having merely one method does not align with how we were trained in University to utilise the nursing process.

The Nursing Process is defined as, a “systematic approach to care using the fundamental principles of critical thinking, client-centered approaches to treatment, goal-oriented tasks, evidence-based practice (EDP) recommendations, and nursing intuition.  Holistic and scientific postulates are integrated to provide the basis for compassionate, quality-based care” (*1).

Simply put, we will assess your child using our nursing training to determine the best way to help your family reach their goals, walking beside you all the way.  You can choose us with confidence, knowing you have picked the most qualified resource to support your family’s journey.

Yes.  As Registered Nurses, we have years of training on where to access credible guidelines and information. All of our programming is based on extensive research from credible sources.

As Registered Nurses, it is our professional obligation to manage client records and confidential information properly.  We use an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) that is compliant throughout the UK.  Even though we share the same brand, we are all independent Registered Nurses with our own private practices. As such, we each have our own EMR that is private and secure. We do not share EMR or client information between one another without consent.
